Sirsa Cult Impotency Case: Court issues summon for Gurmeet Ram Rahim and two doctors

PANCHKULA, Haryana, India—In a case pertaining to castrating more than 400 Sirsa cult disciples, the CBI Court in Panchkula on February 12 issued summons against rape convict Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and two doctors namely Dr. Pankaj Garg & Dr. Mohinder Insan. Trio of them have been asked to appear before the court on February 28.

It is pertinent to note here that Gurmeet Ram Rahim and Dr. Mohinder Insan are in jail however Dr. Pankaj Garg is still absconding. It is being expected that Gurmeet Ram Rahim and Dr. Mohinder Insan will be produced before the court via video conferencing.

It may be recalled here that the Central Bureau of Investigation had filed chargesheet against rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim and two doctors in CBI Special Court on February 1 for castrating more than 400 male disciples of Sirsa cult.

On August 25, 2017, Ram Rahim was convicted of rape by a special CBI court. His conviction led to widespread rioting, which left almost 40 of his disciples dead from clashes with police. Over 200 were also injured, included several policemen. On August 28, 2017, Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in jail for rape. He has also faced prosecution for murder and ordering forced castrations.
