Veteran Akali stalwart Ajit Singh Kohar passes away; Funeral on February 8

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Veteran Akali stalwart Ajit Singh Kohar passed away on the intervening night of February 4 and 5 due to cardiac arrest. His final rites will be held on on February 8.

Eighty one years old Ajit Singh Kohar had served as Transport Minister in Punjab government and was five times elected as legislator from Shahkot constituency.

As per information shared by Kohar’s personal secretary Lakhvir Singh, Kohar had dinner with the family at around 9.30 pm and went to his room. “A few minutes later, he came out and complained of uneasiness. He was rushed to the local Pruthi hospital but his condition deteriorated on the way,” informed Lakhvir Singh.

Ajit Singh Kohar is survived by son Naib Singh and two daughters.

Lakhvir Singh further informed that Kohar was provided medical help while being conveyed to the Hospital in Jalandhar in 108 ambulance but he couldn’t survive.
