NIA Court Extends Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh’s Remand Till January 9

MOHALI, Punjab—Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh, alleged sharp shooters of serial killings in Punjab, were produced before the Mohali based Special NIA Court of Additional Session Judge Ms. Anshul Berry by the NIA team on January 4. Duo accused were produced in an FIR No. RC/22/17 pertaining to killing of a Christian Pastor Sultan Masih in Ludhiana.

Prosecution lawyer Advocate Surinder Singh sought 12 days of extension in remand of the duo accused claiming that the NIA team has to recover the motorcycle used in the killing of Sultan Masih. While producing the call details of the duo accused before the Court, Advocate Surinder Singh further said that the NIA team also needs time to interrogate the accused in this concern. He claimed before the court that the duo accused were not supporting the investigation.

Claims of Prosecution lawyer were strongly opposed by the Defence lawyer Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur. He said that Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh have been in remand from two months but the NIA team was still demanding extension in remand with ill intentions.

Agreeing with the claims of prosecution lawyer, the NIA Court extended their Police custody for five days i.e. till January 9.
