Jaggi sent to judicial custody till January 31; Ramandeep Singh & Hardeep Singh Shera on two days remand

MOHALI, Punjab—Scottish Sikh youth Jagtar Singh Johal, nickenamed Jaggi, was today produced before the Mohali based NIA’s Special Court of Additional Session Judge Ms. Anshul Berry by the team  of National Investigation Agency probing serial murders in Punjab. Notably, Jaggi was in NIA’s custody till date in murder case of RSS leader Ravinder Gosain.

After getting acquainted of the developments in questioning Jagtar Singh Johal in serial murders that occurred in Punjab, the Additional Session Judge Ms. Anshul Berry sent him to judicial custody for 30 days i.e. till January 31, 2018. He has been sent to Maximum Security Jail of Nabha.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the NIA didn’t lodge any reply to the Court in relation to Defence counsel’s demand of conducting medical checkup of Jagtar Singh Johal from a psychologist and a psychiatrist.

Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera sent to two days remand with NIA:

Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera, alleged sharp shooters of serial murders in Punjab, were also produced before the Mohali based NIA’s Special Court of Additional Session Judge Ms. Anshul Berry in case pertaining to firing outside an RSS’ training centre in Ludhiana. The court ordered to send them to judicial custody till January 20 but the NIA team again arrested them in case pertaining to murder of a Christian pastor Sultan Masih.  

Although the NIA sought 12 days remand of the duo accused but the strong opposing arguments of Defence counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur forced the Court to sanction their two days remand with NIA.  

It is also learnt that the National Investigation Agency didn’t lodge any reply before the Court in relation to arrest Bhai Ramandeep Singh and Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera in all the cases being probe by the NIA at the same time.
