NIA team probing Ravinder Gosain’s murder attacked in Uttar Pradesh

NEW DELHI—A joint team of National Investigation Agency and Uttar Pradesh police was reportedly attacked in village Nahli of Uttar Pradesh on the intervening night of December 2 & 3 when it was searching for another suspect Malook, wanted in connection with the supply of arms used in the murder.

Media reports reveal that a mob local people attacked the Investigation team by resorting to firing and stone-pelting. Constable Tajib Khan was seriously injured in the leg while a vehicle was damaged.

Interacting with media on December 3, an NIA spokesperson informed that a large crowd of men and women tried to obstruct the police and the NIA team. “In self-defence, the personnel fired into the air,” he added. 

It may be recalled here that RSS leader Ravinder Gosain was shot dead in Ludhiana by two unidentified assailants on October 17 this year. The investigation of this case was handed over to NIA by the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Although the Baghapurana police had claimed of unearthing the conspirators of serial murders of RSS leaders in Punjab but the Union government of India had expressed distrust in Punjab police’s claims and had directed the NIA to investigate Ravinder Gosain’s murder case.
