AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The pro-freedom Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa has announced to stage a sit-in-strike and take out a protest march Gurdaspur on December 10 to mark the 69th World Human Rights Day. The demonstration will be staged against the Indian state’s excesses on Sikh community.
Interacting with media today at Amritsar, Dal Khalsa’s General Secretary Paramjit Singh said that the march would lend voice to the victims of state repression, especially those who were made to disappear and subsequently eliminated in a stage-managed encounter. He added that the protest would be against torture, fake encounters, enforced disappearances, impunity to forces and Black Laws.
Raising concerns over arrests of youth in Punjab, S. Paramjit Singh said that the Punjab government was continuing its old trend of violating Human rights under the garb of curbing militancy in Punjab.
Party’s Spokesperson S. Kanwar Pal Singh questioned the international community and the Indian civil society on absence of justice in India. He asked, “We have a poser to the UN. The ‘Butcher of Bosnia’ has been punished, when will the ‘Butchers of Sikhs’ be held guilty for attempted Genocide?”
He informed that his party’s Europe unit would submit the memo to United Nations Geneva office in this regard in December.
