Delhi High Court Directs Home Minister to Probe Thrashing of Political Sikh prisoners in Tihar Jail

NEW DELHIā€”The Delhi High Court on November 30 directed the Union Home Ministry of India to constitute a high level investigation committee to probe the brutal thrashing of political Sikh prisoner Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria in Tihar jail. The Investigation Committee has been assigned the responsibility of investigating how the CCTV cameras of that particular area in Tihar jail got switched off during that exact period of time and why Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria got thrashed by the Police cops at the same place.

Speaking to Sikh24, Legal Department head of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Jaswinder Singh Jolly informed that the Delhi High Court bench headed by Justice S. Murlidhar and Justice I.S. Mehta has directed the SHO of Tilak Nagar’s Police station to register an FIR in this concern. “The Police will probe the incident under leadership of DCP and will submit the report to Court on December 22,” he added.

It may be recalled here that Sikh political prisoners Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria were brutally thrashed by the Tihar jail staffers and others in September this year. Interestingly, the CCTV cameras of that area of the jail were switched off during that exact period of time.

  1. Is there no body working for the government in India human and what part of human rights they do not understand. These dogs are set up by this gunda government and nothing is going to change until such time Sikhs stand up to them like before.

  2. Unless all the minorities wake up and start campaigning against these atrocities committed by the govt. nothing is going to change. These committees have no value look how many commissions were appointed to find the truth about 1984 genocide and we all know the results of those inquiries.
