SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar appreciated the services of Raagi Bhai Jaswant Singh Ji and Baba Balbir Singh Ji while congratulating them on this historic eve.

Meanwhile, the decision of conferring Shiromani Sewa Ratan award to Baba Balbir Singh has been opposed by an SAD leader Gursewak Singh Jawaharke. He has said that the Nihang sect Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal had a controversial past as its ex-chief Baba Santa Singh was excommunicated in 1984, along with the then Union Home Minister, Mr. Buta Singh, for conducting the Government sponsored ‘kar sewa’ to reconstruct the building of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, which was demolished during the holocaust of June-1984.
