Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera to Remain in Police Custody Until Dec 1

MOHALI, Punjab—Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera were today produced before the special NIA Court in Mohali. The NIA’s investigating team sought extension in remand of duo accused for 12 days but the Court headed by Justice Anshul Beri agreed to extend the remand for four days till December 1.

Both Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera were arrested in relation to killings of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat leaders in Punjab.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur appeared as a legal counsel for both accused during today’s hearing in the NIA’s special court of Mohali.

The duo alleged sharp shooters Bhai Ramndeep Singh and Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera are in custody of NIA from the last five days. NIA is investigating the murder RSS circle leader Ravinder Gosain who was shot dead outside his residence in Ludhiana on October 17, 2017. Following the murder, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had ordered NIA probe into the case.   

Although the Punjab police had claimed of unearthing the serial killing episode in Punjab by arresting four Sikh youths earlier this month but the Union government of India had expressed distrust in Punjab police’s claims and had directed the National Investigation Agency to probe Ravinder Gosain’s murder case.
