ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ (pragaas)

Meaning: noun: Light, illumination.

ਉਗਵੈ ਸੂਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਚੰਦੁ॥ ਜਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ   ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਿਟੰਤੁ॥
ugvai soor na jaapai chaňd.  jah giaan pragaas   agiaan miṭaňt.

When the sun rises, the moon is not visible. Where the light of wisdom illuminates, ignorance is dispelled. -Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 791

Message: A New Day

The rising sun heralds in a new day. At most times, whenever the sun is around, the moon is nowhere in sight.

Similarly, whilst reading our scriptures in the company of prudent and righteous people, we get more knowledgeable and spiritually inspired. 

Then our ignorance slowly dissipates through the practice of truth and wisdom in daily life.

Etymology: From Sanskrit prakaash (clearness, luster) and prakaashate (become visible, shines forth).
