Khalsa Sports Meet 2017 begins at Fatehgarh Sahib

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—Commemorated to 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Khalsa Sports Meet 2017 begun at Baba Fateh Singh Sports Stadium of SGPC run Mata Gujri College on October 14 amid echoes of Sikh ovations. The Sports meet was initiated in a special environment created with singing of Gurbani verses and echoes of trumpets & war-drums. Khalsa Dresses of participating College teams, manifestation of skills by Gatka players and guard of honour given by NCC cadets remained a source of attraction during inauguration ceremony. Over 5,000 student players of different games will take part in this College level sports meet.

Chief Guest of the event and SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar inaugurated the Khalsa Sports Meet 2017 by hoisting the Khalsa Sports Flag and releasing coloured balloons in the air.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar reiterated his stance to honour young players to encourage them towards sports. He added that the overall, first three position holders of this sports meet will be given big cash rewards. He appealed the present students there to adopt Sikh values in their lives and develop sportsmanship in themselves.  

Various improvement SGPC personalities were present at the inauguration.  The event includes students from all over Punjab.  The championships are held every year by the SGPC to remember Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
