BREAKING: SGPC Ready to Work with CBI To Investigate Sacrilege Incidents

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC has decided to seek investigations of the 2015 and 2016 sacrilege cases from the Central Bureau of Investigations.  Speaking with Sikh24 earlier today, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the investigations of sacrilege episode should be handed over to the CBI by the Punjab Government headed by the Congress party.

“We are ready to work with the CBI and we will provide any assistance they seek in the investigations,” Prof. Badungar said.

When asked about his stance on Justice Ranjit Singh led Investigation Commission, Prof. Badungar refused to accept the commission.  He also expressed distrust in the report submitted by Justice Zora Singh led Investigation Commission.

Notably, Justice Zora Singh led Investigation Commission was appointed by the SAD-BJP led Punjab government in 2015 but the Congress had annulled his report by terming it as an inconclusive after forming government in Punjab earlier this year.  Newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had handed over the investigation to retire Judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court Justice Ranjit Singh in April this year.

Interestingly, Prof. Badungar said that the SGPC respects the judiciary but it wants the sacrilege episode to be probed by Central agencies as the Justice Ranjit Singh led Investigation Commission was having limited resources at its disposal.
