CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Reacting to SGPC’s response over summoning by the Punjab government appointed Investigation Commission, Justice Ranjit Singh has clarified that the neither SGPC nor Akal Takht Jathedar were summoned by the Commission instead the duo were requested to send their proposals to put control over sacrilege incidents in Punjab.

During its sitting on October 9, the Investigation Commission headed by Justice Ranjit Singh accused the SGPC of giving misguiding statements. He said that he had already given clarification on September 13 about the accusations of summoning Akal Takht Jathedar levelled on him.

Recalling his meeting with SGPC Secretary and Personal Assistant of SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar, Justice Ranjit Singh said that the duo had agreed to support the investigation.

Justice Ranjit Singh has asked the SGPC and SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar to send their proposals for controlling sacrilege incidents through their representative.

Taking on the SGPC for making sel-styled supremacy claims, Justice Ranjit Singh further said that the SGPC becomes a party in many Court cases related to normal disputes so it can’t claim of not appearing before the Court.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has allotted 4 more employees to the Commission and has also uplifted the 900 Km limit fixed on the commission for travelling. Now, the Commission has 8 employees working in this commission on contractual basis and unlimited car facility for covering the sacrilege related incidents.
