Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh’s wife Bibi Jasbir Kaur passes away

NEW DELHI—Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh’s wife Bibi Jasbir Kaur passed away on October 7 following a brief illness. She was residing with her son Charanjit Singh in New Delhi.  Bhog of the Akhand Path Sahib will take place on October 17, 2017 at Gurdwara Raqab Ganj Sahib in New Delhi.

Prominent Sikh leaders have paid homage to Bibi Jasbir Kaur’s life.  President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Simranjit Singh Mann said –

“This family’s sacrifices will never be forgotten.  Bhai Kehar Singh’s action once again brought forth courage and pride for the Sikh community.  We share our sympathies by with S. Rajinder Singh, their son.  We pray to Vaheguru to always keep this family in rising spirits.”

 

Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh was sentenced and executed on January 6, 1989 for plotting conspiracy to assassinate Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.  Bhai Kehar Singh had avenged the armed invasion into sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib and demolition of supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib during June 1984’s holocaust.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh on October 31, 1984. Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh was  nephew of Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh.
