KHARAR, Punjab—On September 19, a session court of Kharar, headed by Justice Ekta Uppal, issued it’s third production warrant for the Sarbat Khalsa appointed Akal Takht Jathedar, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, for October 24.
The Court has twice previously issued his production warrants for August 19, and September 19 consecutively, but the Tihar Jail authorities have so far refused to produce him, citing security reasons.
Jathedar Jagtar Singh was indicted under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms & Explosives Act. Currently, he is being confined in the Tihar Jail of Delhi serving life imprisonment in an assassination of the former Punjab chief minister, Beant “Singh”.
Jathedar Jagtar Singh has been acquitted of a string of other charges of assassinations and killings. The cases were thrown out by successive session judges as having no merit and containing baseless accusations.
