Bhai Makhan Shah Lubana and Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Remembered by the SGPC at Darbar Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A Special Gurmat Samagam (religious function) commemorated to the sacrifices of great Sikh disciples Bhai Makhan Shah Lubana and Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara was organized on September 10 at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall situated within the premises of Sri Harmandir Sahib. 

Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Raagi Jathas of Bhai Gurkirat Singh and Bhai Shaukeen Singh sung the Gurbani verses in melodious tones. Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh read the sacred Hukamnama (Order of the Almighty Lord) on this occasion.

Addressing the Sikh devotees on this occasion, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the Sikh history has glorious examples  of sacrifices by Sikhs. He said that the devotion of Bhai Makhan Shah Lubana towards the great Sikh masters encourages us to follow teachings of our great Sikh masters.

Recalling the sacrifices of Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara, Prof. Badungar said that Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara had set ablaze his house for cremating the body of ninth Sikh master Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. He announced to hold a religious function commemorated to these great Sikh disciples every year at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.   

Former SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur, President of Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lubana (USA) S. Raghbir Singh Babbi, Former President S. Raghbir Singh Subhanpura, Master Mohinder Singh Miani and Chairman Garib Singh were also present on this occasion. SGPC Secretary Dr. Roop Singh acted as stage secretary on this occasion.
