10th Anniversary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Celebrated

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—The tenth foundation ceremony of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University was celebrated with ardour at Fatehgarh Sahib on September 2. A religious program was held on this occasion under the patronage of living Sikh master Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Interacting with media on this occasion, the SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the SGGSWU was the first university in the world which has been named after a name of religious scripture. He claimed that in coming years the SGGSWU will be among top ten universities of India.

“For the first time in Sikh history a unique institution of higher learning in the form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University has been established under Punjab State Act 20/2008, at Fatehgarh Sahib, near Chandigarh,” said Prof. Badungar.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University was set up to commemorate the historic event of the 400th anniversary of the compilation and first installation of Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Granth Sahib. It was completed in 2007 and it had come to limelight several times after the exposure of irregularities by its Vice-Chancellors.
