Procession In Amritsar Sahib On Anniversary Of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A large religious procession arranged by the SGPC took place yesterday in Amritsar Sahib to celebrated the 413th installation ceremony of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

The religious procession started from Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib and concluded at the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib, after crossing through Baba Sahib cross road.

The beginning prayer of this religious procession was performed by Bhai Rajdeep Singh and the Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh read the sacred Hukamnama (order of the Almighty lord). As per traditions, Giani Jagtar Singh placed the Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the palanquin and waved the whisk over Guru Sahib.  

Numerous Gatka parties, religious societies, and school students took part in this sacred religious procession and displayed their skills.

Addressing the sangat (congregation), Giani Jagtar Singh narrated the tale of installing the Holy Scripture inside the complex by the fifth Sikh master Guru Arjan Dev Ji, 413 years ago.

SGPC’s General Secretary S. Amarjit Singh Chawla extended congratulations on the sacred day. He added that the great Sikh master had revealed an enlightened path for the entire world by inscribing verses about the Almighty Lord in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

A special display of traditional religious artifacts was held at Sri Harmandir Sahib as well as at the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the evening. A special lighting event was also organized in the evening after the recitation of Sri Rehras Sahib.
