Christian’s Remand Extended After Guru Granth Sahib Desecration Incident

AJNALA, Punjab—Ranjit Masih, the Christian who vandalized 13 sacred angs (pages) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, in Gurdwara Mansa Puran Sahib, of village Talwandi Bhangwan near Ajnala, on August 8, has been sent to 14 days judicial remand by the court. He was today produced before the Court of Sub-Divisional Magistrate by police after 5 days of remand.

Ranjit Masih was arrested by police shortly after the attack took place, after CCTV footage revealed his identity.

The police caravan was, however, attacked by 20 to 25 unidentified assailants during the ferrying of Ranjit Masih to the police station.

This caused further alarm as the attack on the convoy by such a high number of assailants pointed towards a deliberate and malicious intent from a large group or organisation of people.
