MOHALI, Punjab—SGPC appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Mall Singh today passed away at 2pm (IST). He had been submitted for treatment at Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Sohana Eye & Super Specialty Charitable Hospital, in Mohali, since July 21.
Giani Mall Singh had undergone brain surgery due to a tumor last year but he hadn’t recovered completely from the condition. He had to be admitted into hospital once again after a severe relapse on this year.
His cremation has been scheduled to be heldnear Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, on tomorrow at 11 am. All SGPC run educational institutions and offices will remain closed tomorrow.
