SGPC Probes Serving Of Non-Veg Food At Guru Ramdas University Canteen

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Under direction of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, the SGPC has constituted a four member committee to probe the serving of non-vegetarian food in the canteen of Sri Guru Ram Das University’s Health Sciences department.

Surprisingly, a Congress leader Mandeep Singh Manna had submitted the complaint to Giani Gurbachan Singh on August 8, acting on which the SGPC was directed to probe the matter.

SGPC’s executive members S. Surjit Singh Bhittewind and S. Harjap Singh Sultanwind, SGPC Secretary Dr. Roop Singh and Additional Secretary S. Harbhajan Singh Manawa have been appointed in the committee, to submit a report within 15 days.

Mandeep Singh Manna said that the cafe, named “Café Green”, is jointly owned by an SGPC member, a SAD leader and a publisher of Sikh religious books. He added that it was objectionable to prepare and serve non-vegetarian food at a place owned by an SGPC member and on land belonging to the SGPC.
