CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed its Kharar MLA, Kanwar Sandhu, as its Overseas Convener. Sikh24 has learnt that AAP has selected Kanwar Sandhu for the post in an attempt to regain robust connection with the Indian Diaspora which had supported the party in the recently assembly polls.
On being contacted by Sikh24, Kanwar Sandhu confirmed the development. He informed that he will go abroad soon to reinstate interaction with NRIs.
“We have plan to visit USA, Canada, England and Australia, along with other countries. We received a robust response from people of these countries in the recent elections,” he said.
“I have been asked to ensure that we hear from these people and follow up on their demands.”
Sandhu was shortlisted to become the party’s official leader in the assembly, however, due to popular demand, the post was given to MLA Sukhpal Khaira.
