1984 Sikh Genocide: Court allows Lie Detection Test on Abhishek Verma, but denies forcing Tytler

NEW DELHI—A Metropolitan Court of Delhi headed by Justice Shivali Sharma on July 26 said that Jagdish Tytler couldn’t be forced to undergo Lie Detection test against his wish. However, the Court has allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct the Polygraph test on arms dealer Abhishek Verma who is accused of helping Jagdish Tytler in bribing the chief witness of case by remitting large ransom in the name of his son residing in Canada.

After recording the Abhishek Verma’s statement, the Court also ordered the Delhi police to provide round the clock security to him till he undergoes the lie detection test. The Court has also directed the probing agency CBI to conduct Polygraph test on Abhishek Verma at an independent place and also disclose the time and venue to Court by submitting a report on August 1.

It may be recalled here that the probing agency CBI had been demanding conduction of Lie Detection test (Polygraph Test) on Jagdish Tyter and an arms dealer Abhishek Verma in a case pertaining to killing of three innocent Sikhs in Pulbangash area of Delhi on November 1, 1984. Although Jagdish Tytler was given clean chit thrice in this case but the case was once again reopened with the constitution of Special Investigation Team by the Union government in February, 2015.
