Punjabi University Bans Sale of Sikh Encyclopedia in Punjab

PATIALA, Punjab—The Punjab University (Patiala) placed a ban on the sale of the latest republished edition of the Sikh encyclopedia, Mahan Kosh today. The cause being the revelation that numerous mistakes and altercations in the republished edition were noted and raised by the scholars.

Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University S.K Sandhu said that a committee has been constituted to investigate the matter and submit a report within a month. He added that the ban will remain in effect until a final decision on the report was submitted by probing committee.

It is pertinent to note here that the supreme Sikh body, SGPC, had also appointed an investigation committee which had found many imperfections in the republished edition of the Mahan Kosh.

The SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar had also written a letter to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh to put ban on the republished edition.
