New Gurdwara Sahib Is Established In Mumbai to Attract Sikh Youth

MUMBAI, Maharashtra—In an attempt to attract the new generation towards Sikhi, the Chief Khalsa Diwan has established a Gurdwara Sahib with traditional customs and modern techniques in Mumbai (Maharashtra). The Gurdwara Sahib has been established in Mumbai’s Sri Guru Harkrishan Bhawan.

Speaking with Sikh24 about this project, President of Chief Khalsa Diwan S. Charanjit Singh Chadha said that the Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was installed in the newly established Gurdwara Sahib as per Sikh customs and a Kirtan Darbar was also organized which witnesses a large gathering of Mumbai residents last week.

S. Chadha further informed that the seven storeyed Sri Guru Harkirshan Bhawan was established in 2004 by Chief Khalsa Diwan on a land donated by Mata Laaj Kaur Chadha in Andheri (East) of Mumbai.  He said the new Gurdwara has been established to provide resources which are needed by today’s youth, this includes technology to help them understand Gurbani and Gursikh values.

On being asked about the future plans of Chief Khalsa Diwan in Mumbai, S. Charanjit Singh Chadha informed that an eye clinic will be opened shortly in the same building besides opening a Kindergarten school for kids.

Chief Khalsa Diwan is a central organization of various Singh Sabhas spread all over Punjab with the mission to promote the aspirations and redress grievances of the Sikh public, settle their religious differences and channelize Sikh public opinion. Its primary aim is to promote the spiritual, intellectual, moral, social, educational and economic welfare of the Sikhs as well as to safe-guard the political rights by making the Government aware of the problems, needs and grievances of the Sikh community.
