SGPC To Hold Special Programs for ‘Miri Piri’ Diwas; Gurmat Training To Be Provided at Camps

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has announced to hold state-level programs on July 3 to mark the Miri-Piri Diwas.  The events will be organized in commemoration of the life and blessings of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the 6th Sikh Guru.

A special program has been announced by the SGPC at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib in Patiala for July 3.

Speaking with Sikh24, SGPC president Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar confirmed that the SGPC was going to hold a special program at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib on July 3 commemorated to the ‘Miri-Piri Diwas’.  He said several of the programs will be held, but special emphasis is being paid by the SGPC towards Gurmat Training during these programs.

Elaborating the details of Gurmat Training Camps being organized by the SGPC, Prof. Badungar said that the SGPC was making special efforts to attract youth towards Sikhi. He added that the youths were being trained about the basic tenets of the Sikh religion and the code of conduct to be followed after getting initiated.

He said that SGPC is concerned about lack of interest by youth today towards their faith, but he felt confident that with efforts, these youth can be acquainted with Sikh history and beliefs.
