Kar Seva begins to renovate inside walls of Sri Harmandir Sahib’s entrance gate

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—On June 24, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee inaugurated the renovation of internal walls of Darshani Deodi’s upper portion (entrance gate to sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib).

The renovation project was inaugurated by performing Ardas in which SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, General Secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla, executive member Bhai Ram Singh, S. Harcharan Singh, S. Avtar Singh Sainpla, S. Sulakhan Singh, S. Ram Singh Bhinder,  Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh, Sant Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale, Baba Sukhwinder Singh Bhuri Wale and others were also present.

Interacting with media, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the walls of upstairs and Toshakhana (secured store house for valuables) will be given beautiful traditional look. He added that the SGPC was committed to preserve traditional look of holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib for which the SGPC keeps on making efforts by hiring specialized artists. He further informed that the Kaar Sewa for renovation has been assigned to Sant Baba Kahsmir Singh Bhuri Wale.

On being contacted by Sikh24, Sant Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale said that modern techniques and equipment will be used in to accomplish the renovation project.  He said his organization is also firm at preserving the historical look and feel of Sri Darbar Sahib.
