Collapse in Gurdwara building claims one life, leaves eight injured

PANIPAT, Haryana—Partial building collapse of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sahib Pehli Patshahi in Panipat (Haryana) on June 12 claimed one life while seven others were injured.

The building collapsed at 4:45 PM in the evening while construction work was going on for the ceiling.  Initial reports reveal that the Gurdwara building collapsed under its own weight.

On getting apprised of the incident, the District administration immediately rushed to the spot and started rescuing the victims from debris. Experts from Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Public Works Department also joined rescue operations. Later in the night, a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also arrived from Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Panipat Dr. Chander Shekhar Khare told Sikh24 that the injured persons were rescued from debris of collapsed building and were rushed to the Hospital where one of them was declared brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Dheeraj from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh while names of the injured are as below –

At the time of writing this report, two more injured were rescued from the debris but their names couldn’t be confirmed.
