TIHAR JAIL, India—The following statement was issued by Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara from the Tihar Jail in New Delhi on the 33rd anniversary of June 1984 attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar.  Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was appointed as the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by Sarbat Khalsa 2015 gathering.

Translation of Bhai Hawara’s statement is as follows –

Ik Oankar Satgur Parsad
Sri Akaal Ji Sahae

In rememberance of the shaheeds of 1984.

Guru Piare Khalsa Ji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh.

We have all gathered in memory of the 20th century Sikh holocaust. There are no words which can accurately describe the 1984 holocaust besides shedding tears of blood. The holocaust has brought much pain to our souls. Even after suffering these horrific wounds if you do not burn in revolt against the Indian government then you cannot class yourself as a Sikh.

Similarly, this holocaust has paved the way for the Sikh community to struggle for the achievement of their national homeland, Khalistan. By opposing this or deviating the Sikh community from this target by raising other issues is becoming a treacherous trend in the movement. This is a direct betrayal to the blood spilt by our martyrs and even though these people may keep relation to families of our martyrs history has taught they will be considered as traitors of the nation.

Khalsa Ji, We all know that Sri Akaal Takht Sahib was created by Sri Guru Hargobind Patishah and was the central place of the 1984 holocaust. Even if smagams are organised across the world where Sikhs reside, the main central smagam must be at Sri Akaal Takht Sahib. But today, the people in possession of Akaal Takht commemorate this day which such haste under the Indian government command that Gursikhs who travel from distant places cannot pay their homage to their martyrs. This bitter reality proves to us all that even before we can liberate our nation, we have to get rid of the captives of our beloved Gurdware.

To liberate the gurdware we will have to form a joint strategy by contesting the shiromani gurdwara parbandhak committe elections and keeping the Panthik interest in mind above the agonising ideals of the group. This is the responsibility of all the Panthik organisations and if any should neglect their responsibility then all Sikhs around the world should enforce it.

Paying tribute to the martyrs of the holocaust we should guard their vision. In order to fulfil their dream it is important to create a consolidated strategy.

A scholar has said that if you do not make any strategy to achieve your goal, then you will be surrounded by a hostile scheme. Therefore, all Panthik organisations should focus all of their attention on the achievement of a national homeland and until then all internal issues of the panth should not be raised. By remembering the blood split by our martyrs we all have to make a vow that we will battle to meet the community target until our last breath.

Paying homage to the community martyrs,
Servant of the Guru Panth,
Jagtar Singh Hawara
Jathedar Sri Akaal Takht
