NEW DELHI, India—Jagdish Tytler, a key suspect of the 1984 Sikh genocide, on May 22 once again refused to undergo a lie detection (polygraph) test, by filing an affidavit before the Karkardooma Court of Delhi via his legal counsel. The case pertains to killings of three innocent Sikhs namely Badal Singh, Thakur Singh and Gurcharan Singh in the Pulbangash area of North Delhi by a Hindu mob during the 1984 Sikh genocide. Jagdish Tytler is accused of inciting mobs to kill Sikhs.

At the plea of Central Bureau of Investigation, the Karkardooma Court had earlier ordered Jagdish Tytler and arms dealer Abhishek Verma to undergo the polygraph in February this year. Jagdish Tytler had then contended before the court that there was no reason for him to undergo the test.

Jagdish Tytler has thrice been given a clean chit in this case by the CBI, but the courts ordered the case be re-examined. The CBI was directed to stop holding back from from conducting the lie detector test and also to share an ongoing status of investigation report with the court every two months.
