Meaning: noun: Anger, wrath.
Quote:
ਹੇ ਕਲਿ ਮੂਲ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ   ਕਦੰਚ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਨ ਉਪਰਜਤੇ॥
he kal mool krodhanǧ   kadaňch karuṇaa na uparjate.

O root of conflict, anger! Compassion never rises up in you or the creatures in your grip. – Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 1358
Message: Excessive anger or wrath can encompass being angry with ourselves, our family, our colleagues or even the whole world. It can interfere with our personal and professional relationships and also hinder spiritual development.

In some cases, it is the root of conflict. An angry person loses one’s senses and might act very cruelly in rage. This may trigger incidents that the person may come to regret later on.

At times anger is also a natural or biological response which can alert us to a dangerous situation and need for a reasoned response.  However, quite often people are so filled with perceived hurt and anger, that most of their lives centre around the goal of hurting their ‘enemies’ and seeking revenge.

The understanding of its negative consequences and realisation of their impact on our life, relations and dealings is important. This will help us to overcome and control our unwanted wrath.

Anger is a great force. If you control it, it can be transmuted into a power which can move the whole world. -William Shenstone, poet, 1714-1763

Etymology: From Sanskrit krodh (anger).
