BREAKING: UK Labour Party rakes up issue of 1984 Sikh genocide in its poll manifesto

LONDON, UK—Amid ongoing campaign for general elections due for June 8 in United Kingdom, the Labour Party has announced to order a probe to find out the role of British government 1984 attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib in Punjab, if voted to power. In its election manifesto, the Labour Party has promised the Sikh community to order thorough probe of armed invasion into holiest Sikh shrine in 1984 and the genocide of Sikhs committed by State sponsored mobs in November, 1984. If voted to power.

Tom Watson, who is Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, has said that the Sikh community was surprised to know about involvement of British government in armed invasion on Sri Harmandir Sahib when some secret government files were made public. He added that some other documents were still to be made public.      

Finance minister John McDonald said that the Sikh community has a big role in cultural and economic life of UK. He said that he was proud that his party has included the issue of 1984 Sikh genocide in its poll manifesto.

Sources have informed that it has become possible due to the efforts made by Sikhs for Labour Group to arrange a meeting between prominent Sikh personalities and leaders of Labour Party.
