Baldev Singh Sirsa exposes property scam in SGPC during Avtar Makkar’s tenure

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—President of Lok Insaf Bhalai Party S. Baldev Singh Sirsa has exposed a property scam in the apex Sikh body SGPC during Avtar Makkar’s tenure. He has written a letter in this regard to President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Enforcement Directorate, Director of Vigilance Bureau, Chief Secretary of Punjab and Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court seeking probe into this property scam.

In the letter shared with Sikh24, S. Baldev Singh Sirsa publicized the documents of 61 acres land purchased on the name of Avtar Makkar’s son and his close aides in village Karura of Ropar district. He informed that 21 acres out of total land was purchased on the names of Avtar Makkar’s sons, 15 acres land was purchased on the name of SGPC Vice-Secretary Sukhwinder Grewal and 25 acres of land was purchased on the name of SGPC member Daljit Bhinder.    

Seeking thorough probe into this property land, Baldev Singh Sirsa informed that the collector rate of land in Nurpur Bedi area was Rupees 1 lakh per acre and the Market value ranges from Rupees 8-10 lakhs per acre. He demanded that the government should bring it forward that how did these SGPC officials manage to purchase this agriculture land worth Rupees 70 million. He added that the all the property owned by these officials should be probed thoroughly.

Baldev Singh Sirsa further informed Sikh24 that during the tenure of Avtar Makkar, an SGPC owned House was first sold out at Rupees 7 million but later the SGPC again purchased it for 27 million after sometime. He alleged that the SGPC officials grabbed Rupees 20 million of Guru’s Golak in this cumbersome procedure.
