AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A Gutka Sahib (scripture containing Gurbani verses) was reportedly desecrated at the premises of Supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib by a non-Sikh devotee on April 25. The incident came to light when a woman Sikh devotee noticed a non-Sikh lady hiding the ‘Gutka Sahib’ in her ‘Saree’ (an Indian costume). She immediately informed about it to the SGPC men deployed there.
The SGPC employees found the ‘Gutka Sahib’ desecrated and handed over the guilty woman to Punjab Police. The guilty woman has been identified as Bano w/o Mangu and she is resident of Rajasthan.
It has come to fore that the SGPC officials initially tried to suppress the incident but as soon as Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala got apprised of it, he raised pressure on the Police to register a case.
Speaking with Sikh24, Jathedar Amrik Singh Ajnala said that it was very unfortunate that the Supreme Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee was trying to hide the incident. He appealed the Sikh masses to stand up against any cases of sacrilege.
He also appealed Sikh sangat to ensure defeat of the Akali Dal members in the upcoming SGPC elections. Bhai Ajnala held Akali Dal directly responsible for cases of sacrilege in Punjab in 2015.
Bhai Major Singh, Bhai Sarabjit Singh Sohal, Bhai Tarlochan Singh Sohal, Bhai Sukhdev Singh, Bhai Navdeep Singh Amritsar, Bhai Gursharan Singh Sohal etc. also accompanied Jathedar Amrik Singh Ajnala in getting the complaint registered against guilty woman.
SGPC of course will hide its their wrongdoings that encourages more culprits to commit such acts. Where was their security if any…… the only security is against the Sikhs. Massive thank you to the lady who actually was vigilant and caught the culprit in act. These people come to Gurdwaras for free langars without any respect and than destroy sikhi….. Any kind of punishment would not be enough……. Very sad!
