Kejriwal expresses distrust in EVM; seeks use of EVM with VVPAT

NEW DELHI—Amid ongoing controversy over EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) being used by the Election Commission of India in polls, the Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal has stated that even a child was able to hack the EVMs being used by the Election Commission. He further claimed that he knows 10 ways to hack the EVM.

Arvind Kejriwal had earlier appealed the Election Commission to defer civic polls in national capital for a month or two to avoid use of redundant EVMs in these polls. He told that the state poll panel chief SK Srivastava was requested by the AAP leadership to procure EVMs with VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trial) to honestly conduct the polls in Delhi.

On the other hand, the poll panel chief SK Srivastava has said that he passed over the demand of AAP leaders to the Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi but the chances of availability of VVPAT were negligible only a week has been left for the polls.

It is noteworthy here that the polls of Municipal Corporation in Delhi are going to be held on April 23.  AAP is looking to wrest control of the three Municipal Corporations from the BJP.
