AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the Chief of Sirsa based Sacha Sauda cult, has allegedly claimed of receiving threats from pro-Khalistan outfit Babbar Khalsa International. Interestingly, the development has come soon after the shameful defeat of Badal led Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab assembly polls.
In a complaint lodged with Police, Chairperson of Sirsa cult Vipasana Insan has said that the threat was received in a weekly congregation of cult Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on March 12 in which Ram Rahim answers the questions of cult disciples. Vipasana has claimed that the threat letter was written in Punjabi script.
It is pertinent to note here that the Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim had extended support to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in the concluded assembly polls in which the party had faced shameful defeat.
The Shiromani Akali Dal had to face sharp criticism of Sikh masses for seeking support from Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the assembly polls forcing the SGPC to constitute an investigation committee to probe the matter.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a complaint in this regard and beefed up the security of Gurmeet Ram Rahim despite of the fact that he is already enjoying z-security cover.Sikh24 Editors can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
