Message by the letter chachaa: Blessed are those fortunate days and moments, when my mind is attuned to the lotus-feet of the Guru (Gurbani). – Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 254

Message: In order to attach ourselves to the Guru’s sublime feet (teachings), we have to take steps towards the Guru. The first step that may let us reach out to the Guru’s feet, i.e. the Guru’s Word or Gurbani, would be listening. Take baby steps and spend some time listening to Gurbani singing (kirtan) or recitation (paath) if you have not already started!

We may listen to Gurbani while driving, or when we are in the Gurdwara or even when we are at home. The advent of digital technology has given us so many avenues, – mp3s, videos, live streaming, etc. Listening to the Guru’s soothing and wisdom-imparting words with love calms our mind which wavers in all directions.

The stillness and wisdom that we derive from listening to Gurbani will begin to permeate in our daily life. A mind that is imbued with the melody and inspiration of the Guru’s words of wisdom will make our moments and days profitable and blessed. Listening will also inspire enthusiasm to search and unravel further the mysteries of the Guru’s teachings. This may incline us to proceed towards the next step.

Do not forget to tune into your email tomorrow to find out what is that next step!
