AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Pained over rising desecration incidents across Punjab, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has asked the state-wide Gurdwara Managements to remain alert. He has directed the Gurdwara managers to beef up vigil to ensure security of Holy Scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib installed in various Gurdwaras.

Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has said that some miscreants were eager to disrupt the peace of Punjab by instigating the Sikh sentiments. He has also asked the SGPC members to run awareness campaigns against sacrilege incidents.

“We will not take any beadbi incident lightly and criminals who are out to disturb peace will not be spared,” said Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar while speaking with Sikh24 on March 8.

“SGPC is fully dedicated to preserve the honour of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and we will do everything for its upkeep.”

Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar however ignored the question about short circuit at Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib on May 19, 2016, in which five holy scripture of Guru Granth Sahib were damaged.  A case was registered against the SGPC by Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala (Jathedar, Sri Keshgarh Sahib), Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee and Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala.

“Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh [SGPC appointed] has already directed Gurdwaras across Punjab to ensure they  have proper writing to prevent short circuits,” he added.
