High Court rejects Bhai Dhadrianwale’s petition seeking CBI probe into deadly attack on him

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Punjab & Haryana High Court has rejected the petition moved by Sikh preacher Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale seeking CBI probe about involvement of Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma in deadly attack on him last year.

Notably, Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale was attacked by Damdami Taksal (Dhumma) activists on Ludhiana-Mullanpur road on May 16, 2016 in which Dhadrianwale’s accomplice Bhai Bhupinder Singh had lost life.

The Punjab & Haryana High Court’s bench headed by Justice Fatehdeep Singh said that the Court didn’t find any weakness in the investigation of the case being done by the Punjab police. Court further said that the investigation being done by the Punjab police was satisfactory and the Damdami Taksal’s chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma had also supported the Police in investigation.

Justice Fatehdeep Singh said that the probing Punjab police team called upon complainant Kulwinder Singh numerous times but he did not attend the court even on a single instance. On the other hand, Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma attended the Police interrogation each time the Police called upon him.

The Court said that the petitioner couldn’t prove his allegations of weakness in probe of Police. He advised the petitioner to sincerely follow up the case proceedings in the trial court where the Police have already moved charge sheet.
