Former Khalistani leader Wassan Singh Zaffarwal announces support for Congress backed Paramjit Sarna in Delhi Gurdwara Elections

NEW DELHI—Despite serious allegations against President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi), United Akali Dal’s Wassan Singh Zaffarwal has openly announced to support Paramjit Sarna.  Sarna is backed by Congress in the upcoming Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections taking place on February 26.

Zaffarwal is the National General Secretary of the United Akali Dal.  Speaking with Sikh24 on February 16, he said that he was firm in his support for Paramjit Sarna.  “Along with Sarna, I am going to campaign for all of his candidates in the elections,” he said.  Zaffarwal had met with Sarna at his home in Delhi on February 15.

Speaking with Sikh24, Bhai Wassan Singh Zaffarwal said that he would work for the winning Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) candidates in DSGMC elections due on February 26.

It is noteworthy here that the Bhai Mohkam Singh led Punjab based United Akali Dal is renowned for polarizing the vote bank of Sikhs in elections. UAD’s President Bhai Mohkam Singh is a Taksali stalwart who often issues statements in media adherent to Sikh psychology.

Meanwhile, a video has gone viral in which Sarna is honouring Ramesh Chander, son of Lala Jagat Narain.
