LUDHIANA, Punjab—On the eve of antim ardas (final prayer) of former SGPC President Avtar Makkar’s son, current SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Sngh Badungar and SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh underwent a closed door meeting.

The meeting between two temporal Sikh leaders underwent in an isolated room in which Giani Gurbachan Singh was seen red faced.  It is learnt that the duo were talking in loud manner to each other.

It is being speculated that Giani Gurbachan Singh is outraged over Shiromani Akali Dal’s act of demanding support from controversial anti-Sikh Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Earlier, Giani Gurbachan Singh had signified that he will take action against Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal for violating the edict passed against Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim directing Sikh masses to boycott him and his disciples.  It is important to note that Giani Gurbachan Singh had asked Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar to formalize a panel to probe the visit of Akalis to Dera Sacha Sauda.  However, the latter hand picked prominent Akali Dal supporters to carry out the probe.

Other senior Akali leaders Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema (Cabinet Minister), Amarjit Singh Chawla (SGPC General Secretary), Maheshinder Singh Grewal and others were also present on this occasion.

After the conclusion of meeting between Prof. Badungar and Giani Gurbachan Singh, media reporters tried to talk to them but they refused to answer any media query. Meanwhile, the security persons successfully let the duo exit from venue.

Later, SGPC General Secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla said that the duo leaders refrained from talking to media as it was a funeral.
