BATHINDA, Punjab—In direct confrontation of Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s edict issued in 2007 against Dera Sacha Sauda, senior members of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) visited the dera on January 26 to seek its blessings and votes. Dera Sacha Sauda, based out of Sirsa, Haryana, is an anti-Sikh cult whose chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim is facing charges of rape and murder, and is currently undergoing investigations by the CBI.
Pictures have surfaced of Akali leaders, including its candidate Parminder Dhindsa from Lehragaga and Cabinet Minister Surjit Rakhra who is contesting elections from Samana.
Their visit coincided with the birth anniversary of Sirsa Cult’s former chief Shah Satnam on January 26.
While Sacha Sauda cult chief was pardoned by SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh in September 2015, Sikh community has continued to have sour relations with cult followers. Involvement of cult followers was alleged behind the theft of Guru Granth Sahib’s saroop from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala in 2015. In addition, one of the victims of beadbi cases named Balwinder Kaur was a follower of the Sirsa cult.
Cult leaders are also responsible for killing of two innocent Sikh youth in 2008, after the Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim mimicked Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s attire and carried out his own amrit sanchaar, akin to Vaisakhi in 1699 when Guru Sahib blessed the Punj Piare with amrit.

Unbelievable hypocrisy, Sikhs copies and stole so many things from Hindus, then Dera Sacha Sauda borrow some Sikh practices, now all of sudden Sikhs very upset outraged. What about Hindus? Think on this please, use brain and do not resort to terrorism as is Sikh tradition. Sikhism is anti-Dera cult. We must promote multicultural multireligious pro-India movement not cause the divisions and unchecked hatred. Why Sikhs care what Dera does copying? Let them practice their beliefs, Sikhs may go on practicing their beliefs.
We don’t have any problem with this saucha sauda cult and its deluded followers providing they do not impinge upon our rights as Sikhs. No SIkhs should be visiting these kind of heretical deras and still call themselves Sikhs. They should convert openly to Ram Rahim or whichever Godman is their pick of the day but they don’t then get the right to call themselves Sikhs. Sikishm is not a cult at all but a worldwide internationally recognised religion – actually the third fourth largest monotheistic faith in the world as the number of Sikh adherents outnumbers Jews – which is taught and studied in universities and schools as a monotheistic faith alongside the three others.
Sikhs may visit any dera or temple they wish and many millions are doing so all of history and before our eyes now even. They may convert deconvert however they wish and Moron Singh cannot do anything in this regard.
