Kejriwal Confirms That Their Chief Minister Will Be From Punjab

SAS NAGAR—Halting speculation that Arvind Kejriwal will be stepping down as the Chief Minister of New Delhi to take up the post in Punjab, AAP’s National Convenor has said that the Chief Minister candidate for Punjab will be a Punjabi.

Earlier, addressing a gathering of the AAP in village Balongi of the Mohali assembly constituency, Delhi’s Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia had said that Punjabis should vote for AAP, assuming its National convener as their upcoming Chief Minister. He added that whosoever gets elected as Chief Minister of Punjab, it would be the responsibility of Arvind Kejriwal to ensure promises re delivered within short time, once the AAP forms government in Punjab.

Sisodia’s comments were twisted by some media outlets, who reported that Sisodia has alleged that Kejriwal will be the CM face of Punjab. This led the Akali Dal and Congress to condemn the announcement as Kejriwal is not from Punjab.

Taking a dig on the AAP leadership, the political rivals of AAP in Punjab i.e. Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal started targeting AAP by saying that the AAP’s plan has been exposed. They said that the AAP was willing to govern Punjab by sitting in Delhi and the outsiders were imposing rule on Punjabis.

Even Deputy CM of Punjab Sukhbir Badal tweeted, “AAP has proven it doesn’t trust Punjabis”.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee head Captain Amarinder Singh called Kejriwal a sneaky little fellow.

There has been speculation about the face of AAP’s CM for Punjab for a long time, and the AAP was even targeted by their political rivals for not disclosing their CM’s face.

Earlier, AAP’s state convener Gurpreet Ghuggi had revealed that the AAP won’t disclose its CM face instead the Chief Minister will be elected by the successful candidates of assembly polls if AAP forms government in Punjab.
