Barred from Attending 350th Gurpurab Celebrations; Jathedar Daduwal Finally Released from Gurdaspur Jail

GURDASPUR, Punjab—Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal was released from Gurdaspur jail on January 6.  Notably, he was arrested along with his family (wife & son) and one accomplice by the Police of Qadian on January 1.  He was arrested under sections 107/151 of Cr.P.C (Code of Criminal Procedure) in relation to disturbing law and order of the  state.

Bhai Daduwal and family at time of arrest

Speaking to Sikh24, Daduwal’s counsel Advocate Simranjit Singh informed that Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal was given bail by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Batala but the Police didn’t grant him release from the Gurdaspur jail. He said that the Punjab police have violated the directives issued by honourable Punjab & Haryana High Court in 2013 for detaining an accused after bail.

He alleged that Bhai Daduwal was arrested so he could not take part in the 350th Gurpurab celebrations at Patna Sahib.

Accusing the Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia for delay in Bhai Dadulwa’s release, Advocate Simranjit Singh said that Majithia pressurized the Police to register case against Bhai Daduwal and delayed his release from the jail.

Advocate Simranjit Singh further said that the Governor of Punjab has been apprised with the violation of High Court’s directive by the Qadian police and he has summoned the Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner to provide a report on the matter.
