2017 Assembly Polls: Three way contest in Lambi May Benefit Chief Minister Badal

Ardasia Balbir Singh

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Ardasia Balbir Singh, who had denied Siropao to Chief Minister Parkash Badal last year inside the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Harmandir Sahib, has announced his desire to contest election against Badal from Lambi constituency. Notably, Ardasia Balbir Singh was transferred to Machhiwara at that time but he had refused joining the duty there.  Recently, he was recently reinstated by the newly elected SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar.

Cornering the Badal led Punjab government on desecration episode, Bhai Balbir Singh said that if the Badal again comes into power the desecration incidents might be repeated once again in Punjab.

In a video that went viral on social media, Ardasia Balbir Singh has sought suggestion from his supporters about his decision. He has claimed that he was in talk with several political outfits about this but even if he doesn’t get ticket he will get into the fray in Lambi as an independent candidate.

Going ahead, Ardasia Balbir Singh said that he was still adamant on his stance of not offering Siropao (robe of honour) to Chief Minister Parkash Badal.  “If Badal once again comes to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib and I will be on duty inside the sanctum sanctorum then I will once again deny Siropao to him,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bhai Balbir Singh’s contest from Lambi may make it a three way contest as Delhi based Bhai Jarnail Singh is also contesting against Chief Minister Badal from there.

  1. I would request this great SIkh hero Ardasia Balbir Singh not to get involved in this electoral contest as it may indeed give Badal a lifeline by dividing the vote. Sardar Balbir SIngh Ji you have already done great service to SIkh Panth by giving the Badals and their servants the SGPC a tremendous slap in the face and can continue to be a constant thorn in their sides serving the Panth where you are. When the SGPC is deloused we will need Ardasias like you to take up leadership there.
