Millions Of Devotees Congregate At Harmandir Sahib On First Day Of 2017

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—On the first day of Georgian year of 2017, the central Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib witnessed devotees congregating in huge droves to pay obeisance. The number of devotees this year is being considered to be a new high compated to previous years.

Devotees were moved towards Sri Darbar Sahib with bare feet during the cold and started reaching the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib during the night of December 31 to bathe in the sacred Sarovar (pool).

Speaking with Sikh24, the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib said that the number of devotees appeared to be more than that of Diwali or Vaisakhi.
