Fourth Dasvandh Week Ends with Over $160,000 Pledged for Sikh Projects in USA #DasvandhWeek

2014-10-13- dasvandh weekTROY, MI, USA—The forth annual Dasvandh Week ended this past Sunday, with over $160,000 pledged for Sikh organizations.  There are over 50 projects currently registered on Dasvandh Network.  All of these projects belong to non-profit Sikh organizations registered in the country.  There was a great buzz about Dasvandh Week on social media since the past week.  Sikh organizations appealed to their supporters through Facebook, Twitter and emails to donate.

Dasvandh Network has projects listed in various categories, including civil rights, seva, advocacy, scholarships, camps, education, etc.  Sikh Youth Alliance Of North America (SYANA) which raised funding for Flint (MI) water crisis stated, “We are so grateful to the online community for their generous donations. We exceeded our goal of $1000 by raising $3,676.00. All together we were able to deliver over 50,000 bottles to the community of Flint in this exciting joint endeavor!”  SYANA also raised over $9,000 for its Aasraa Food Pantry project through Dasvandh Network.

Several other success stories are listed at this link.

In a press release on November 22, 2016, Dasvandh Network stated –

We are excited and humbled that with your help and our generous community over $160,000 was pledged during DasvandhWeek and over 90 new recurring donations were started! We could not have made such a big impact to our family of Panthik organizations and projects without your support. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

It is very important that we acknowledge two of the reasons for its success: our volunteers and our community. Without your efforts, the mission to consistently inspire giving would not be within reach. Your impact is invaluable, as it has helped to raise awareness of the work being done in our community. We are truly grateful for your support, commitment, and hard work!

At DVN, we strive to continue the Guru’s message of dasvandh. You can participate in the spirit of DasvandhWeek all year around by starting a recurring donation – bitly.com/Isupport. Thank you again for your continued support!

Dasvandh Network is a not-for-profit, grassroots, crowd-funded platform that allows donors and causes to actively participate in the spirit of Dasvandh—the Sikh practice of contributing one-tenth of a person’s earnings to the common good of the community.  That is why DVN is encouraging donors to give with the power of ten in mind during the week-long fundraising event.
