AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Interacting with the media on November 1 at Amritsar Sahib, Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convener and Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, said that the BJP led Union government was shielding the key culprits of 1984 Sikh genocide. Kejriwal was in Amritsar to attend Court appearance in Amritsar District Courts in relation to a defamation case filed by Revenue Minister of Punjab Bikram Majithia for terming him as Kingpin of Drug mafia.

Arvind Kejriwal said that hopes of justice for the 1984 Sikh genocide victims were negligible when the Congress ruled India as they were the one who performed this barbaric act.  “But as now the saffron BJP is in power, chances of justice for genocide victims also seem negligible as the Union government is shielding the key culprits by pressurizing probing agency CBI to make false statements before Court,” he added.

Kejriwal said that he had appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Sikh genocide cases when he first formed his government in Delhi. He added that he had also written letters to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to either get the genocide cases re-probed by Centre appointed SIT or let Delhi government do it on its behalf.

It is pertinent to note here that in a case pertaining to killing of three Sikhs in a Gurdwara in Pulbangash area, the probing agency CBI had told the Court that it remained unable to establish contact with Narinder Singh, son of a chief witness against Tytler who had relocated to Canada.  However, later the prosecution lawyer HS Phoolka had contended before the court that he was ready to assist CBI in establishing contact with Narinder Singh in Canada.

Meanwhile, Co-Incharge of AAP affairs in Punjab S. Jarnail Singh claimed that AAP was receiving complaints regarding irregularities by the State government in disbursement of relief package sent by Union government of India. He has also alleged that the allocation of land in Ludhiana to 1984 Sikh genocide victims was not done properly.
