CHANDIGARH—Veteran Congress leader Jagmeet Brar is all set to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the 2017 assembly polls. The move is likely to come after Diwali.  Jagmeet Brar had served Congress for several years, however, this year, he resigned due to differences with party leadership.

On being contacted by Sikh24, Jagmeet Brar confirmed the development. He said that he was in talks with Aam Aadmi Party’s National leadership.

“We are just waiting for the right time to announce the move.  After Diwali, I may get inducted to the AAP fold officially as that will be the right time,” he said.

Sources within the Aam Aadmi Party also informed that AAP was thoroughly looking at the activities of BJP rebel leader Navjot Sidhu.  Sidhu had earlier tried to negotiate with both AAP and Congress.  If Navjot Sidhu joins Congress, the AAP leadership will compensate his deficiency by inducting the veteran Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar.

Following his exit from Congress, Jagmeet Brar had organized a rally at Chapparchiri in May this year. The rally witnessed a large gathering and later Jagmeet Brar had extended unconditional support to the Aam Aadmi Party.  However, during a recent rally of AAP at Moga, he was not given time to address the AAP supporters by the organizers of the rally.

Jagmeet Brar said that while he is not officially part of AAP, he has been indirectly helping the party through many ways.
