Congress activists burn ‘Drug Effigy’ with Badals and Majithia’s face

LIUDHIANA, Punjab—In protest of alleged drug trade by the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal, the Punjab wide Congress activists burnt a ‘Drug Effigy’ in Ludhiana on October 18 under the patronage of PPCC head Captain Amarinder Singh.  Faces of Chief Minister Parkash Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia were pasted on the head of the ‘Drug Effigy’. The Congress activists carried out the event on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ludhiana on October 18.

Addressing the media on this occasion, Head of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Captain Amarinder Singh said that his party activists wanted to apprise the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the ongoing drug trade in Punjab under the patronage of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal.

“We want Modi to get aware that his party was in alliance with a party in Punjab which is promoting drug mafia,” said Amarinder while explaining the selection of this day. He further said that the Badal was expert is befooling Punjab masses with innocent face.

Parliamentarian from Ludhiana Ravneet Bittu said that the current SAD led Punjab government was much more dangerous to Punjab than the Pakistan’s terror promoting agency ISI (Inter-services Intelligence).

PPCC head Captain Amarinder Singh had earlier asked his district cadres to burn ‘Drug Effigy’ (Chitta Ravan) in each District of Punjab. Notably, the Congress activists were brutally thrashed by the activists of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in Ludhiana when they had tried to burn the ‘Drug Effigy’ (Chitta Ravan) on Dussehra. The ‘Drug Effigy’ (Chitta Ravan) was also vandalized by the activists of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal on the same day. The incident had drawn a state-wide outrage among Congress cadre.
